Last weekend saw another busy time at the beach especially on Sunday when the weather really turned it on. Big thanks to all the lifeguards who were actively patrolling and the patrol captains James Rolfe and Adam Harvey.

This weekend is a huge one at the club with South Island IRB’s on Saturday and the Halberg Disability Surfing day on the Sunday. It would be great to see as many people as we can on the beach helping out. Our patrol captains are Richard Murray on Saturday and Cameron Burrow on Sunday.

DHL Safer Beaches Campaign

DHL are running a social media campaign in Australia and New Zealand to thank Lifeguards for the work they do over the summer to help keep our beaches safe.

For every entry SLSNZ will receive $1 to a maximum of $1,000 and each week one entrant here in NZ will receive a $250 beach prize pack. All entrants are asked to nominate a Surf Life Saving Club as part of their entry. At the end of the campaign an overall winner will be announced and the club nominated by the winner will receive a $1,000 donation from DHL.

Club roles

The club is currently on the look out for a keen member to maintain the garden area on a regular basis.
Email us at if you are interested in taking on this role.

In the community

Last weekend was the annual weet-bix triathlon. It was really great to see a mix of junior surf parents and young lifeguards out at the Mosgiel pool ensuring all swimmers had a safe and enjoyable time. Well Done team!

This weekend the Flight Centre Halberg Surf Day and the hits “Sandcastles at St Clair” events are happening on Sunday. It would be really helpful if we could get as many people as possible down at the beach to help assist with these events. The Surfing kicks off at 10am and the sandcastles at Midday.
