Lifeguards journey 90 miles

Good luck to our team of Adam Harvey, Niam Chronican, Jake Woodhouse and Scott Fraser who are racing the annual 90 Mile Classic IRB Challenge this weekend. A review of the event from our team will follow in the next weekly update.

First Swim of Summer

A new fundraising event the First Swim of Summer has been created to replace our Annual Polar Plunge has been organised for midday on Sunday, 1 November.

The Annual Polar Plunge will still be held on the weekend cloest to the winter solstice each year, but was not held this year due to the beach conditions.

Applications open for Summer Roles

Looking for work this summer, applications are open for summer staff roles as regional lifeguards with SLSNZ.

Port Chalmers Seafood Festival

Skeggs Foundation Grants

Applications for the latest round of Skeggs Foundation Grants are currently open, completed applications are due back to Sam Clutterbuck by 5pm next Tuesday, 15 September for SLSNZ endorsement.
Application forms are available on the Sport Otago website.

Club Meeting

A meeting is being held for all club members this Sunday, 13 September to provide an overview of all the club activities for the new season. Anyone planning on being involved in the club this season should come along and hear the presentations.

Introduction to Surf Coaching Course

Registrations are still open for the Introduction to Surf Coaching Course on Sunday, 20 September.

Up-coming Training Courses

The following courses are scheduled to be run in the coming months: Instructors Award, First Aid Level 1, Marine VHF Operators and Patrol Captains. If you are interested in any of these or have any questions please contact Ossian Woods or email the club.

Please note that holding the Marine VHF Operators Certificate is a prerequisite to getting your IRB Drivers Award.
