St Clair Prize Giving - 9th May 2016

Devon Familton was the big winner at our annual prize giving held on Saturday night; taking away two prestigious awards the Alistair Moffat Memorial for Most Promising Under 19 and the Cameron Cup for Best All Round Surfer.

On a night filled with celebration and emotion, Antony Mason was proud to present a trophy named in honour of his late father, the Opie Mason Cup which is awarded to an outstanding young leader in the club. In its first year it was awarded to Women's Club Captain, Heather Thompson.

The Jubilee Cup for Most Industrious was awarded to club treasurer Jeff Foster for his outstanding work on the club accounts; with the Centenary Cup for Outstanding Achievement going to the winners of the Under 21 Tube Rescue Title at IRB Nationals, Arhtur Ibbotson, Angus Mackenzie and James Coombes.

Some of the other highlights for the night were:

  • New Zealand's top Under 21 IRB Crew (Angus Mackenzie and Arthur Ibbotson) winning the Darryl Fairbairn Cup for Top Powercraft Crew and the Antony Mason Cup for Top Men's Powercraft Crew.
  • Briar Taylor and Maysha Ahrens retaining the the Carla and Stephaine Laughton Cup for Top Women's Powercraft Crew.
  • Gabe Kennedy-Atchison winning the Owen Dolan Cup for top patroller
