IRB Team Set for Rescue 2014 - 3rd Sep 2014

IRB Team Set for Rescue 2014 The countdown is on towards Rescue 2014 which will feature for the first time in Europe two IRB teams from St Clair!

Rescue 2014 is being held in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of Southern France; centered around the city of Montpellier and more importantly the beach of La Grande Motte. The event starts on 13 September running until 26 September, with the St Clair IRB teams in action on 17-18 September.

During the event the team will race the Tube Rescue, Mass Rescue, Rescue and Teams Rescue races.

Featuring in the St Clair team are our current world champions in the Women's Tube Rescue Stephanie and Carla Laughton and a new combination featuring Michael Crombie and for the first time since Warrington nationals 6 years ago Tim Hunt. The team is coached/manager by the ever present Antony Mason (getting his first experience of Europe along the way).

Stephanie commented about the experience racing for St Clair. "It is a real honour to represent St Clair at any competition whether it is local or national. But international is another step, very cool to get St Clair on the map internationally."

The other members of the St Clair team are:

  • Natasha Scott
  • Hannah Cullen
  • Georgia Baker
  • Jo Duffy
The team has been training hard over the winter to prepare for this event and have been extremely busy fundraising. They have sold toilet paper, raffle tickets, held a beer tasting and food matching evening.

Attending an event of this scale on the other side of the world is a costly experience, the team have been grateful for support from:
