St Clair Members Tackle 90 Mile Race

Building on the success of last year, St Clair is this year sending two teams to compete in the 90 mile endurance IRB race.

One experienced team consists of Adam Harvey, Niam Chornican and Jake Woodhouse with Libby Simpson as support crew and a second new crew of Matthew Bradley,Scott Fraser and Sam Kemp with St Kilda SLSC member Sam Todd as support.

This iconic race takes place along 90 mile beach at the top of the North island. The race consists of parallel running in the surf zone down the beach, completing challenges along the way.

There are 3 challenges which are a full setup carry roughly 100m across a spit, 2 members doing a 2km run and a motor carry.

At each challenge, one member must also re-fuel the bladder. The crews consist of 3 members in the boat and an additional member driving a vehicle along the beach keeping an eye on their crew.

The team last year gained a 21st and the first otago club Home. Last year, there were 43 crews entered. This year they are looking to go under 3 hours.
